Sarah Gonzalez, LMFT

Sarah Gonzalez is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who earned her Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Couple & Family therapy from the University of Rhode Island. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Studies and Psychology from Central Michigan University. Sarah has over a decade of experience in the field, spending the past eight years working with children and families in need in the state of Rhode Island. Sarah has extensive experience in providing crisis intervention and advocacy, primarily with survivors of sexual violence, abuse and neglect, stalking and other traumatic experiences. She has over 200 hours of training in trauma-focused therapies and advocacy assistance. Her primary specialty is working with adolescents and young adults, and also has experience in working with children and adults in multiple capacities. She also specializes in treating individuals and their families struggling with primary and secondary trauma. Sarah uses a multifaceted approach to therapy to meet clients where they are and to suit their individual needs. Sarah is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the Rhode Island Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (RIAMFT). She has spent the last 3 years as a board member of the RIAMFT, and is currently serving as President. Sarah sees clients at the Cranston location, and is the school-based clinician at Exeter-West Greenwich Junior and Senior High Schools
