Douglas Counts, LICSW

Douglas Counts has over 30 years as a clinical therapist. He graduated from the Boston College School of Social Work with a Masters of Clinical Social Work. He has worked for the Department of Mental Health as a case management supervisor and as a clinician for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections on their mental health team. Mr. Counts then worked as the Director of Substance Abuse at The Counseling Center located in Middleboro, MA. He worked closely with the Wareham District Court receiving referrals from local courts, parole and probation offices.

After leaving The Counseling Center, Mr. Counts served as Center Director for the Worcester, MA office of Arbour Counseling Services. Since 2001, Mr. Counts has been in private practice. Mr. Counts is new to Anchor. He moved to Rhode Island from Massachusetts in 2013 and enjoys living and working in Rhode Island. Mr. Counts enjoys working with Individuals and couples. Mr. Counts has several clinical interests and specialties. He uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches using Motivational focused therapy. Mr. Counts also uses mindfulness training, meditation, and other relaxation techniques.
