Nicholas Ahern is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who earned his Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Johnson & Wales University in 2016. He has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families, in community, home, and office settings. He specializes in counseling teens and young adults dealing with a wide range of issues , including anxiety, depression, trauma, identity formation, family conflict, substance abuse, etc. He is also passionate about and drawn to working with marginalized communities, including those living in poverty, the LGBTQ+ community, women, and racial minorities, as well as other disenfranchised groups.
Nicholas has an eclectic approach to therapy where he draws from techniques from various therapeutic models, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, psychoeducation, etc., to meet client’s where they are at and address their specific needs in the most effective ways. He offers a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment, in which he guides his client’s toward a deeper understanding and awareness of their issues to ensure they make healthier and more informed decisions about their lives.
