Bethany Handfield, LICSW

Bethany works out of the Anchor Counseling Center office in Cranston, RI. She is currently working with children and adolescents. Bethany works with those struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, social skills, behavioral issues, relationship issues, trauma/grief, and other mental health challenges. She uses interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, creativity and art, strength- based, solution-focused integrative holistic approaches to reaching clients goals.

Bethany is a licensed independent clinical social worker with 18 years of experience in the mental health field. She received her master’s degree from Rhode Island College School of Social Work.

Bethany has done extensive community-based work with children and families throughout the years. She has provided individual and family therapy, run clinical support groups, social skills groups and has provided parent education and support. Bethany also has a certified, insured therapy dog named Annie who visits upon client permission and request.

Bethany is easy-going, supportive and looks forward to working with clients to overcome any challenges they may be facing. Through building therapeutic relationships in a safe, fun, creative, comfortable environment. Bethany believes that clients can develop the skills and strategies to accomplish their goals.
