Melissa Cashman-Smith, LICSW

I am a graduate of Rhode Island College with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, and I am a certified Eagala Mental Health Professional.  I have had the privilege and honor to work with clients across the lifespan; my concentration is  working with adults who suffer from Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Adjustment Disorders, Life Transitions, Stress Management, and Grief and Loss.  I have worked in a variety of different settings including outpatient, schools, home based, and long term care facilities. In my various roles, I have provided  family, group and individual therapy.  My primary goal is building a therapeutic alliance with the clients I serve by empowering them to change their life stories to improve their quality of life.  I am strength based, solution-focused, and client-centered in my clinical practice. I aim to provide a non-judgmental, safe, and supportive environment where clients can explore options to enhance their skills and find their own solutions to better their life circumstances. I utilize a holistic, multidimensional approach to therapy in which I explore each individual’s biological, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. I have a strong desire to assist the clients I serve in the healing process by building self-worth, purpose, and gratitude for life.
